Green Belt in West Jakarta Occupied By Illegal Buildings

West Jakarta Administration's effort to arrange the green belt in accordance with its function is apparently lack of support from local residents. Evidently, the condition of micro channels at RW 10, Kalideres Urban Village, and at RW 05, Cengkareng, Cengkareng Barat Urban Village, is slum and chaotic.

We'll do demolishment in the near future

Based on beritajakarta.com observations, many big trees around channels as wide as 5 meters are cut down and has been used by people as car parking lots, chicken cages, used goods stalls, and so on. Similar condition is also spotted along Maja River, Bambu Laranganm RW 05, Cengkareng Barat Urban Village, Cengkareng Sub-District.

Wardan, (56), a resident of RT 01/10, Kalideres Urban Village uttered such condition has been exist more than five years.

"Previously, the place was shady and green due to many tress were planted along channels. More than five years, people began to cut down them and changed into car parking lots, chicken cages, used goods stalls, etc,  he expressed, Saturday (9/20).

Head of West Jakarta Satpol PP, Kadiman Sitinjak expressed his side is intensively conducting raid against illegal buildings on green belt and riverbanks as well as micro channels. For illegal buildings stood atop channels and Maja River, will be demolished in the near future. Based on the data gathered, the land is occupied by more than 50 buildings.

"We'll do demolishment in the near future," he stressed.
